United States Navy aircraft perform a victory flight over Tokyo Bay. The battleship USS Missouri , where the surrender was officially signed on September 2, lies at anchor in the foreground. After six years, at the cost of nearly 80,000,000 lives, WWII had ended.

You can schedule posts like you’re programming a VCR? (sorry, DVR) How? And maybe more importantly, Why?

Cool photo, btw. Love the Iowas.

History’s been set in stone before. All he needs to do is type out relevant info and mark the calendar.

Also... I want to see you and Labcoatguy in one thread.

I hate that America resorted to nukes (no need to explain; fuck that noise), but as a Filipino, part of me found it was enough of a retribution for the shit the Imperial Japanese piled on this archipelago.

Also, I’m an immense asshole in real life and you’re gonna hate me more than your worst enemy.

Meh. We could have invaded and killed four million of them and lost hundreds of thousands of our own. Seriously, I don’t understand how anyone could be opposed the nukes in that instance when our firebombing campaigns killed so many more with greater effort. We quickly ended the war and we kept the Reds from trying to take a cut. Win win. Japan of 2016 is not the Japan of the war. They fought to the death in places like Tarawa and sent kids into battle in Okinawa.
